Why Give to ACC Foundation
Each year, thousands of people in Central Texas seek to improve their lives through education. Most ACC students attend college part-time while still working and caring for their families. Studies find that by reducing financial barriers to higher education, we not only help individuals succeed, we expand the pipeline of skilled workers into the workforce, and build strong communities.
Affordability is the leading reason people don’t enroll in higher education. Many have been forced to move out of Austin at a time when there are a growing number of high skill, well-paying jobs.
With your support, the ACC Foundation can:
Boost enrollments
Put more Central Texans on a path to success
Close equity gaps within our community
Produce a well-skilled workforce for today and tomorrow.
Your Generosity Changes Lives
Help make the 25×25 giving campaign a success and honor ACC’s 50 years of successfully educating generations of Central Texans. With your support, we can continue that tradition for generations to come.
Scholarship Recipient Stories
Receiving a scholarship made a big difference in my life. I was working two part-time jobs, which limited my time to spend on school. When I received scholarships, I was able to cut down on work hours, study more, improve my grades, and get more involved. Knowing that there is someone out there that believes in the fact that they can help someone, it really does make a big difference.
I have a large, challenging study load. It makes it hard to work when you are in such an intensive program. With my scholarship, I don’t have to worry about finding the money to pay for tuition and books. Now, my dreams are within reach. I’m excited to see what the future holds and where I end up.
Receiving a scholarship has made me feel a lot more open to possibilities in my life. It is not something that I thought would ever happen to me. I think receiving that scholarship was one of the first things that shifted my mindset about what I could actually receive and what opportunities I could take advantage of that could be a part of my life. It completely changed how I approached school, so there is no reason not to go for every opportunity presented to you.
I had my son during COVID which put a pause on my life. I was trying to figure out how to take care of a newborn. At that time, I didn’t think that I was going to be able to attend college. My scholarship gave me the support and opportunity I needed to juggle work, life, and college. There are so many students like me at ACC who have a lot on their plates — whether it’s working or raising children. Sometimes it doesn’t seem attainable to balance everything. After going to ACC, I realized that everyone here is invested in you. We are all working toward something together.
My scholarship and the support from donors at the Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education who made it possible is such an encouragement. It makes me feel excited to pursue a higher education and it makes me want to do better in college. It feels great knowing we have support out there to find success.
