ACC Chief of Police Finalist Selected

After a nationwide search and multiple rounds of interviews, a finalist has been selected for the position of Chief of Police for the ACC Police Department. This candidate was chosen from among 31 applicants and has advanced to the final stage of the selection process.

The Chief of Police plays a vital role in shaping the vision for safety, security, and emergency management across the ACC District. This position oversees all public safety operations to ensure a safe and secure environment for our employees, students, and visitors.

Assistant Chief, Austin Police Department

Gizette Gaslin-Disher is an Assistant Chief with the Austin Police Department, currently overseeing the Special Victims Bureau. With 29 years of public safety experience, she has led numerous divisions including patrol, recruiting, training, emergency management, and major crimes. Known for her strong community ties, she was APD’s first Executive Lieutenant appointed as Community Engagement Coordinator to the Chief’s Office.

Her achievements include boosting police cadet applications, reducing attrition in Emergency Communications, managing 3,000+ special events, and launching “Your Voice Matters” to connect with marginalized communities. She has collaborated with local, state, federal, and nonprofit partners to strengthen public safety efforts.

A proud Austin Community College alum, Gizette holds a master’s in Criminal Justice Leadership from Sam Houston State and a bachelor’s from Texas State. She is a TCOLE Master Peace Officer, Certified Public Manager, SMIP graduate, and PELI participant. Gizette serves on the board of Change 1 and enjoys traveling with her husband Jason. Fun fact: she was once a mobile DJ.
