Mark your calendars for the inaugural Riverbat Experience: Student Success Summit.

Beginning summer 2023, Austin Community College District (ACC) employees are invited to explore the program, initiatives, and achievements in student success and discover how their area plays a role.

This unique event connects the dots between an employee’s daily work and the college’s mission to help students achieve their goals. All ACC faculty and staff are invited to RSVP once registration opens.

Schedule of Events

The inaugural Riverbat Experience: Student Success Summit will feature a welcome, keynote, and breakout sessions for employees to explore the four essential Guided Pathways pillars for student success at ACC.

 

    • Breakfast: 7:30 – 8:00 a.m.
    • Welcome & Overview: 8:00 – 8:45 a.m.
    • Reconnect: 8:45 – 9:15 a.m.
    • Keynote: 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
    • Data Talk: 10:45 – 11:00 a.m.
    • Lunch: 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
    • Breakout Session 1: 12:00 – 12:40 p.m.
    • Breakout Session 2: 12:45 – 1:25 p.m.
    • Closing Remarks: 1:30 – 2:00 p.m.

Meet the Keynote Speaker: Dr. Art McCoy

Dr. Art McCoyDr. Art McCoy is a trailblazer, educator, entrepreneur, evangelist, and leader passionately empowering people. His motto is “Enlighten. Empower. Engage.”

At 16-years-old, McCoy was educating educators in peer mediation. At 18, he was a Missouri certified substitute teacher. By 19, he became the youngest certified teacher reportedly in Missouri, teaching mathematics after earning his Bachelor of Science, Magna Cum Laude, months after graduating from that same USA News Best High School.

At age 23, he was a Vice-Principal, by 25, District Gifted Director after earning his Doctorate’s degree, an Executive Director by 28, and Secondary Superintendent at 31. By the age of 33, in December 2010, Dr. McCoy became the youngest Missouri Superintendent/CEO of over 2000 students, Ferguson-Florissant School District’s first African-American CEO, and a leader for Harvard’s Pathways to Prosperity.

From 2014 to 2016, McCoy served as Superintendent-in-Residence/Chief Academic Officer of the MIND Research Institute and Base 11. He helped thousands of high potential low-income students achieve post-secondary programs at California Institute of Technology, USC, University of California-Irvine, & MIT Fab Labs.

In February of 2016, McCoy was named Superintendent of Jennings School District. Under his leadership, multiple graduating classes achieved 100% graduation, career, and college placement, as featured on Fox, CNN, & ABC Primetime.

Dr. McCoy has created homeless shelters, grocery food hubs, school-based health clinics for medical, dental, vision, mental health care for all students, & the 1st Child-Parent Interaction Therapy in Missouri schools.

He served as Breaking the Monopoly of Mediocrity leader for the Missouri Chamber of Commerce & National Change Maker of the US Chamber of Commerce-Institute for a Competitive Workforce. He advised US Legislatures in Washington DC on Opportunity Zones for the US Tax Reform Bill 2017 and the Hero’s Act of 2020.

Since 2019, he has helped lead the Regional Business Council’s STL.Works Initiative and regional responses to the growing workforce crisis. He founded SAGES LLC & 501c3, which successfully “Severs Attainment Gaps Existing in Society.”

Dr. McCoy is a leader who has raised over $20 million, inspired and creates innovative initiatives in workforce development, mental health/wellness, DIE (diversity/inclusion/equity), leadership, & more, worldwide. Overall, Dr. McCoy has supported over 1 million students, 2500 schools and colleges, and served on over 50 boards.
